Just a quickie tonight to update on the no poo progress.
The Hydrosols I ordered to fragrance my hair are AWFUL. They smell like rotting vegetation with a slight smell of Lavender & rose. Lucky they were inexpensive 3-4 bucks... but the spray bottles they came in are nice heavy glass, and I would have paid 3-4 bucks for them empty. I'll be getting some essential oils and mixing with distilled water to make a hair mist in the bottles once I pour the stinky rotting vegetation stuff out.
I think my hair has adjusted, but I'm still looking for my perfect formula. I have no trouble using the BP/ACV mix once every 3 days. My hair does feel a bit dry on the ends however. On in between days I have been using my cornstarch/cocoa mix, letting that sit for 10-15 minutes... then rinsing it out. That has been working very well.
So this week I'm going to try the Aloe Vera/Honey "wash" in between BP/ACV washes to see how I like that. I'll let you all know how that goes.
I also got Coconut Oil. Today I rubbed a little on the ends of my hair and I think that makes for a nice "leave in" conditioner. I've read it works well as a deep conditioner too, and will probably try that this week as well. Gives my hair a nice beachy smell too.
Remember, my hair doesn't smell bad, it just doesn't smell like anything. It is a mental thing for me that my hair needs to smell like flowers or SOMETHING.
Lastly, I need a haircut BADLY. Part of the dryness is due to that and I'm getting a trim on Friday. So I'll report in next week with more progress.
I will say that I'm pretty happy. Have I seen a huge change in my hair yet? No... but I've seen small changes and I think they will start adding up. Oh yea, It's almost time for me to color my hair. I think I need to order some henna/indigo and give that a go. :)
